Quiet Contemplations | Visual Meditations | Transcendent Photography

Jo Holland

Jo Holland is a contemporary artist working with light, nature, and time to create quietly immersive photographic works that explore perception beyond representation.

Grounded in photographic traditions her work explores the subtle relationship between presence and stillness, visibility and sensation. Through processes shaped by natural conditions, Jo creates images that function as experiences—quietly attentive to what exists just beyond the immediately visible.

Her art works unfold through slow absorption, carrying an almost hypnotic quality; the longer they are looked at, the more they begin to reveal, shifting perception from observation to sustained encounter.

They  invite a slower way of seeing, where nature becomes collaborator and the photograph becomes a spatial experience, designed to exist within refined living environments, curated interiors and grace contemporary galleries.

Time spent living and working within Buddhist retreat environments in Thailand has had a lasting influence on Jo’s practice. During this period, she co-led creative meditation retreats with the World Peace Initiative and was mentored by Buddhist monks.

Her work has been exhibited internationally across galleries, art fairs, and private collections throughout the UK, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States.
